Training Course Venue is a division of Training Course Broker Ltd, registered with Companies House on 7 July 2017.
Having started out in labour-intensive manufacturing industries in 1977, it quickly became apparent that training was the key to running an efficient business.
Twenty years as an expat, based in the Middle East, the Far East and the Indian subcontinent running production units, reinforced that lesson. With little or no indigenous labour available locally, workers had to be brought in from abroad at real expense, which made retention critical. Training and safety were a major part of that: happy, well-trained workers were eager to renew their contracts, which kept both costs and downtime to a minimum.
On returning to the UK in 2010, I joined Corporate Risk Systems Ltd (CRS) — a small, privately owned business based in Burton-upon-Trent — as Business Manager, becoming a Director and part owner in 2012. We delivered CITB, IOSH, IEMA, NEBOSH and NVQ courses, both open and in-house. With ten hotel-based venues and 34 tutors (predominantly associates), the business doubled in size and profitability under my direction.
It was clear that a good pool of tutors and venues, along with a solid platform to advertise courses, was an absolute necessity.
In 2014 we sold the company to Hendersons Insurance Brokers Ltd. I was made redundant in May 2017, and decided to create this company.
With that background, I believe we're well placed to understand what training companies need — not only to fill places on their courses, but also to source suitable venues with first-class facilities at the right price.
